Private Dance / Movement Psychotherapy services in Oxfordshire with our friendly specialists.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) is a type of Creative Arts Psychotherapy which acknowledges the body as well as the mind, exploring tension, breath and stories that may be held in the body and may need some attention. Within a session, we will aim to increase self-awareness, self-esteem, socialising skills and self-confidence as well as allowing voices to be heard and feelings to be explored. DMP explores relationship, allowing clients to physically, emotionally and cognitively investigate their own sense of self, with help from the therapist. There will be space for verbal and non-verbal expression and communication. We sometimes use props and music to help clients to tell their stories, and use drawing and images to reflect on our experience. There is a strong focus on play and creative expression through the body, as well as verbal communication and reflection throughout.
