A brief history of The Owl Centre.
The Owl Centre for Children's Independent Therapy was founded in Oxford in 2011 by Nicola Lathey. Originally offering Speech and Language Therapy to children across Oxfordshire, and covering everything from mild lisps to complex needs, it developed into a multidisciplinary practice as new and talented therapists joined the team.
In 2014, a second Owl Centre was opened in Hertfordshire, which is headed by Lydia Ebsworth who had initially been a Speech and Language therapist with us in Oxfordshire, and who didn’t want to leave the team when she had to relocate!
On account of increasing demand and our ever-widening reputation for quality, 2015 saw the addition of three further sites: in Gloucestershire, Cambridgeshire and North West London. The Gloucestershire site opened when Nicola relocated to Cheltenham from Oxford, and it is therefore now our administrative headquarters.
2016 has so far seen the opening of sites in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Herefordshire, Kent and Worcestershire. Between all ten sites, disciplines such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Dyslexia Tuition, Behavioural Advice and Autism Support, Sensory Integration Support, Dramatherapy, and Art Psychotherapy are offered by 34 therapists for children aged 0 to 18 years old. We have been fortunate that a large number of therapists, some of whom have been able to offer new services to clients, have been keen to join the team.
We expect this page to require updating fairly frequently, but our plan is to grow surely but steadily so that we can continue to offer the right levels of support to our close-knit team of therapists, and so that premium service levels to our clients can always be maintained.
