Use this list of 100 basic words to create a scrapbook for your child.

Cut the pictures from magazines, find them on Google images or draw them. Put a few pictures on each page of a large scrapbook, starting with photos of the family.

Using two and three word phrases

As your child gains confidence in naming the pictures in the scrapbook, use copy and add to encourage two and three word sentences.

Try adding descriptive words as well as action words.

  • "dog" - Yes! "Big dog" or "black dog" or "black dog sleeping" etc.
  • "milk" - Yes! "Drink the milk"
  • "throw" - Yes! "Throw the ball up"
  • "hands" - Yes! "Wash our hands!" or "wash dirty hands"
