The Dance / Movement Psychotherapists at The Owl Centre in Gloucestershire combine expertise and experience with a friendly and sympathetic approach to the children and parents they see. They also have links with the NHS to ensure a seamless continuity for clients who have received NHS assessments or therapy.
Kimberley Pena MA, RDMP, ADMPUK.
Kimberley trained at Roehampton University, gaining a Master’s degree in Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP). Since formally qualifying, Kimberley has been facilitating Dance Movement Psychotherapy sessions in both the NHS and private sector within individual and group sessions.
After working in addiction recovery, dementia care and with profound learning and physical difficulties, Kimberley’s professional journey led her to the NHS, facilitating DMP within the Child and Adolescent Specialist mental health service, where she has supported young people with their management of ADHD, ASD, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Self-harm and Eating Disorders.
Kimberley is passionate about dance and movement as an intervention to support expression, understanding and healing. Her passion for dance and people has led to present at the European Association of Dance Therapy Annual Conference, in Milan, on ‘Embodied Ways of Understanding’.
Kimberley’s work has also been reviewed by Refinery 29 and Muddy Gloucestershire.
With an interest in mentoring other Arts Psychotherapists, Kimberley is currently training at the London School of PsychoDrama to be a supervisor for other therapists.
