Aiysha Mughal BSc Hons, PG Cert, PG Dip.
Aiysha is a Certified Play Therapist, Counsellor of Children and Young People (using creative arts) and a trainee clinical supervisor. She is also a Certified Filial Play Coach. Her qualifications are a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play, a Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy, a Post-qualifying Certificate in Counselling Children & Young People, a Post-qualifying Filial Play Coach and, more recently, a certificate in Clinical Supervision.
Play Therapy involves using various creative arts mediums with children and young people to help them process their feelings and experiences. A minimum of 12 sessions is recommended with review meetings every 6 sessions.
Aiysha’s counselling with children and young people involves using creative arts with talking therapy skills. This helps young people, in particular, express how they are really feeling. Sometimes words are not enough: the creative arts element adds an extra dimension to this process so there is further safe exploration.
As a Certified Filial Play Coach, Aiysha works one to one with parents or foster carers/adopters to teach them filial play skills (play therapy-type skills) to practise with their own children at home. It helps to foster positive attachments between parent/carer and child, and helps children to express their feelings more with the adult. This is a practical intervention where the adult may be given some exercises to do. There are also ‘homework’ exercises to do and resources will be given. A minimum of 15 sessions is recommended with regular reviews.
Aiysha is also a Trainee Clinical Supervisor and supervises other Play Therapists. She is based in Luton.
All of Aiysha’s Play Therapy training, including filial coach training, counselling children and young people and clinical supervision has been done through PTUK (Play Therapy United Kingdom). As a result, she adheres to PTUK ethics and principles. She can also be found on the register of Play Therapists.
Aiysha currently covers the following areas (amongst others):
- Houghton Regis
