Lydia Ebsworth BSc (Hons) (University College London), Dip SAC (Professional and Therapeutic Counselling), MRCSLT, MHPC, MASLTIPLydia heads The Owl Centre in Hertfordshire and can provide in-house therapy or make home, nursery, or school visits.

Lydia qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2001. Since then, she has worked in a variety of hospitals, clinics, and mainstream and specialist schools. Lydia has gained her experience working for the NHS, MOD and more recently through independent practice. She has worked with a wide range of children from pre-school onwards, with a variety of difficulties. These include autistic spectrum disorder, selective mutism, working memory difficulties, dyslexia, phonological disorder and language disorder.

Lydia believes that a holistic approach when treating a difficulty is often the most effective, combining theories and programmes to tailor-make therapy sessions for each child. She also works in close liaison with parents, nursery/school staff and other professionals involved with the child to ensure that everyone is aware of the child’s needs and that progress can be effectively monitored.

Anne qualified in 2006. Since then, she has worked for 10 years as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, and more recently in Independent Practice. Anne is passionate about early intervention. She has lots of experience working with parents to support their children to reach their language milestones, in a way which suits them.

Anne works with children with a variety of speech and language needs:

  • Preschool children (0-5yrs), with speech or language delay/disorder. Anne is Hanen-trained, and highly experienced in parent-child Interaction techniques and video-feedback, with parents and their young child.
  • Primary School children with speech sound delay/disorder. Anne has several years’ experience of working in specialist NHS clinics for children with speech sound difficulties.
  • Children (2-17yrs) who are experiencing a period of dysfluent speech, or who stammer. Anne is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (Palin PCI), and in Lidcombe. She has attended training courses with the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children.

Anne qualified in 2000. Since then, she has worked for 16 years as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, and more recently in Independent Practice. With the NHS, she worked in schools for children with learning difficulties, then later within clinic settings and a range of mainstream schools and nurseries. She believes that it is vital to include parents and support staff in the planning of therapy targets to ensure that the child receives consistency across all environments. She ensures that therapy sessions are fun, so the child can learn new skills in a relaxed and positive setting.

Anne works with children with a variety of speech and language needs:

  • Children (2-16 years) with social communication difficulties. Anne has received training in Intensive Interaction, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and the SCERTS model of working.

Rima qualified in 2013 after completing a BSc (Hons) degree in  Speech and Language Therapy at City University London. Since then she has worked as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, and more recently in Independent Practice. Rima specialises in Children's Voice Disorders and has a strong interest in working with children with speech delay and disorder. She has significant experience working in a variety of settings including mainstream primary schools and special schools; children centres; clinics; preschools and nurseries and a language resource unit.

Rima is an advocate for inclusion in all settings, and strives to support all children to achieve their maximum potential. She works with children and young people aged 0 - 18 years old including:

  • Preschool children (0-5yrs) with speech and/or language delay and disorder. Emma qualified in 2017 after completing a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Speech and Language Sciences at University College London. She currently works as an NHS Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, and more recently in Independent Practice. Emma has experience working in mainstream primary schools, nurseries, children’s centres, clinic settings, special schools and Early Years. She believes in working collaboratively with families and ensuring therapy sessions are fun and motivating for the child. Emma is trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy which she uses to support families to set goals and targets for their children.
