Dr Simone Raenker PhD, DClinPsy

Simone is an experienced and qualified Clinical Psychologist.  Her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology was completed at Royal Holloway, University of London.  Prior to this, she completed a PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College and the Maudsley Hospital, Eating Disorders Unit.

Simone has broad experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with multiple and complex needs in various settings (i.e. outpatient, inpatient, schools, home).  This includes at:

  • Great Ormond Street Hospital within the Autism Team where Simone assessed children for Autism and supported children and parents to manage symptoms and traits and to adapt to the diagnosis.
  • University College London Hospital, where Simone worked within the Perinatal Psychology Service helping new mothers with attachment problems and parenting needs.
  • The Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College and the Maudsley Hospital, Eating Disorders Unit where she assessed and treated patients with eating disorders and supported their carers.

Simone’s first doctorate degree (PhD) from the Institute of Psychiatry focused on the experiences of mothers and fathers who are caring for someone with an eating disorder. She tested clinical interventions for those carers to find out which support parents require and how to meet their specific and individual needs as a family.

Simone has a long-standing interest in working with clients who have a physical illness and helping them to adapt and manage health needs.  Thus, Simone can offer expertise to those children with physical impairments.  She has a passion for the benefits of a compassionate and mindfulness-based approach to therapy.

Simone can provide assessment and treatment in both English and German. She graduated with a first class Masters’ degree in Psychology from The Free University, Berlin, Germany before moving to the UK.
