The Clinical Psychologists at The Owl Centre in South London combine expertise and experience with a friendly and sympathetic approach to the children and parents they see. They also have links with the NHS to ensure a seamless continuity for clients who have received NHS assessments or therapy.

Dr Abi Davison Jenkins is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professional Council. Her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology was completed at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Having worked with the Institute of Child Health and Guy’s Hospital on a large-scale autism screening trial, Abi has expertise in the field of autism spectrum conditions, specialising in assessing young children. She is trained in the administration of the autism diagnostic observation schedule (ADOS) and autism diagnostic interview (ADI-R) and has carried out over 100 comprehensive autism assessments.

Abi is also experienced in cognitive assessment of children and young people. Having completed teacher training in General Primary prior to becoming a psychologist, she has a good understanding of the education system. Abi has supported children and young people who are unable to access school for behavioural, medical or emotional reasons. She has also worked with young people with learning disabilities, both as a playworker and as a psychologist.

Abi holds a role in paediatric and adolescent psychological medicine at University College London Hospital. She specialises in working with children and young people who have physical health conditions including cancer, chronic fatigue, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms. She has also undertaken research into the use of positive psychology and mindfulness for improving wellbeing in people with chronic pain.

Abi is experienced in the use of several evidence-based psychological interventions including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, positive behaviour support and systemic therapy. She is trained and experienced in supporting young people to speak about their lives in ways that make them stronger using the Tree of Life and Beads of Life methods.Abi is able to travel to South and South London for work that will extend over several sessions; and to most of London and to some parts of Surrey (Surbiton, Leatherhead) for assessments that can be carried out over a couple of sessions.
