The Therapeutic Counsellors at The Owl Centre in South London combine expertise and experience with a friendly and sympathetic approach to the children and parents they see. They also have links with the NHS to ensure a seamless continuity for clients who have received NHS assessments or therapy.

Judy is a seasoned psychodynamic Counsellor with a background in Social Work and registered mental health nursing. She has over 30 years of strong expertise in undertaking mental health assessments and delivering therapeutic and psycho-social interventions for young people and families affected by mental health difficulty and related issues such as attachment, challenging behaviour, trauma, bereavement, low mood, low self esteem, anxiety, stress, suicidal ideation, deliberate self-harm, interpersonal relationship issues ,substance misuse, social communication difficulty and ASD.
Judy has a passion for supporting young people and families affected by discrimination, exam stress, bullying, abuse, parental divorce and cultural identity.
Judy has substantial experience of working in the NHS adult mental health and NHS child and adolescent mental health services and, additionally, children Deaf services, schools, university counselling centres and the voluntary sector. She has volunteered overseas with young people, families and communities affected by gender based violence.
Judy accepts that life is not always an easy journey, but that to get lost is to learn how to find the way. Judy creates a safe, non judgemental space to listen and explore the impact of life experiences upon emotions and behaviour. She guides the client to make useful insights and changes that support growth, self respect and peace of mind.
Judy acknowledges the importance of providing a holistic service and can deliver support to parents when this can be experienced as helpful to the young person.
Judy facilitates opportunities for resilience building and self care through yoga, meditation, storytelling and Tree of Life work undertaken in family groups and schools. She believes in your capacity to fly when you feel ready to take that leap of faith.
