Deborah Henderson, MA MMT Dip SpLD
Deborah trained at the University of the West of England, graduating in 2013. Since qualifying, she has worked in mainstream schools, special schools and privately. Her clients include children with autism spectrum disorders, attachment problems, emotional and behavioural issues and learning disabilities.
Deborah sees music therapy as a way of establishing and developing the ability to connect with others without the need for words. Music therapy can help children to build a better awareness of their own and others’ feelings, and to find ways of expressing themselves and responding to others through music-making. Tolerance of external boundaries and the need for control can be explored in a safe and positive atmosphere. She is passionate about giving children the chance to develop their full potential, whatever their particular problems may be, through fun and play.
Helen Finnegan BMus (City University London), MA Music Therapy (Anglia Ruskin University), HCPC registered
Helen trained at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, and graduated in 2017. She has supported children with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delay, PMLD, Rhetts Syndrome, Lissencephaly and communication difficulties.
Helen has run individual music therapy sessions and has also worked closely with dramatherapists and speech and language therapists to provide a multi-disciplinary approach. Music therapy provides a safe and nurturing space in which children and teenagers can explore boundaries, develop forms of non-verbal communication and expand creative emotional expression.
Helen is driven to help her clients in this environment to develop to their full potential.
As well as being based in Oxford City Centre, Helen is able to travel to the following areas:
- Nuneham Courtenay
