"Temporarily Unavailable" Caroline Larcombe BSc (Hons) Psychology, PgDip Therapeutic Application of the Arts, PgDip Child Counselling
Caroline is a trained psychotherapeutic child counsellor using the arts. She is currently in the process of registering with BACP. She has a background in counselling and working with children at risk of permanent exclusion from school. Caroline has worked with children with various issues including peer problems, anger management, divorce, domestic violence, anxiety, emotional trauma, behavioural issues, attachment disorders, foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), autism, ADHD, developmental disorders and children that need help to understand their emotions.
Caroline likes to work systemically and often does as part of a multi-disciplinary team developing relationships with parents, carers, teachers and other professionals involved in the child or young person’s life. Using the arts in her counselling practice gives children another way of being able to express themselves and also allows the unconscious to manifest itself. Caroline believes that the relationship between herself, her client and art can enable the child to experience personal growth, positive change and develop a stronger sense of self. Caroline’s approach is integrative which means that she has a large toolbox of theory and therapeutic skills to draw on to be able to develop individual treatment plans dependent upon the needs of the young person she is working with.
Caroline also has experience of working with children within schools that are at high risk of exclusion, working with teachers to develop individual behaviour plans, facilitating small groups dealing with anger management and social skills, enabling children to gain more from their school experience.
