The Play Therapists at The Owl Centre in South Wales combine expertise and experience with a friendly and sympathetic approach to the children and parents they see. They also have links with the NHS to ensure a seamless continuity for clients who have received NHS assessments or therapy.
Vanessa Marie Lowth - Play Therapist. MSc (Play Therapy), BSc Psychology (Newcastle University), PGCE (Northumbria University), BAPT registered.
Vanessa trained as a Play Therapist at the University of South Wales, from which she graduated in 2018. She supported children with attachment difficulties, delayed development, trauma, anxiety and emotional distress. Prior to this, she studied Psychology and Primary teaching, gaining experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorders, social and emotional behavioural issues, dyslexia and additional learning needs.
Vanessa provides 1-1, non-directive, child-centred Play Therapy sessions to children between 5-11 years old. Play Therapy provides a safe, unconditionally positive and accepting environment for a child to process muddled feelings and upsetting events. Play is a natural form of communication for a child and enables expression of feelings and worries at the child’s level and at their own pace. Vanessa is committed to empowering children, building self-esteem and autonomy to help them develop to their full potential.
Vanessa is based between Cardiff and the Rhymney Valley. She is able to travel to the following areas:
