Our ABA Consultants can assess and design interventions for children / young adults on the autism spectrum according to an individual’s needs. The nature and scope of each intervention will depend on those needs, and recommendations will be made by the consultant following an initial assessment. However, this can include early intensive home programmes, nursery and school shadowing as well as consultative support within the individual’s home / educational setting.
Programmes of intervention cover a range of needs that might include:
· Social interaction.
· Play skills.
· Positive behaviour support and reducing barriers to learning
· Learning to learn and early learning skills.
· Self-help skills (including toileting).
· Food tolerance.
Unless the individual has already been assessed by a suitable therapist, and you are able to share with us a set of current targets or an assessment report written within the last 6 months, an initial assessment is the first step. The format taken will vary from consultant to consultant. When you have been put in touch, please ask your consultant for information if required.
Number of sessions
The number of sessions required (and the frequency and length of each session) would be entirely dependent on the individual's needs and age. Your consultant will be able to give you an approximate indication after the assessment stage has completed.
