No artistic ability is required to access this service. It is a psychotherapy which uses art as a medium, which is a powerful way to communicate the unconscious mind, and particularly helpful for children who find it difficult to verbalise how they feel. This discipline can help to assess and treat many problems including:
- Attachment disorders.
- Psychotic disorders.
- Depression.
- Schizophrenia.
- Self-harm.
- Trauma.
- Bereavement.
- Anxiety.
- Emotional issues in general.
- Help improve cognitive abilities.
- Help improve self-knowledge and -understanding.
- Understand and treat behavioural problems.
- Help children with ASD to gain a sense of control.
- Help body dysmorphia and eating disorders.
- Suicidal thoughts.
Unless the patient has already been assessed by a suitable therapist, and you are able to share with us a set of current targets or an assessment report written within the last 6 months, an initial assessment is the first step. The format taken will vary from therapist to therapist. When you have been put in touch, please ask your therapist for information if required.
Number of sessions
The number of therapy sessions required (and the frequency and length of each session) would be entirely dependent on the patient’s needs and age. Your therapist will be able to give you an approximate indication after the assessment stage has completed.
