No acting ability is required to undertake dramatherapy. The discipline provides a gentle space for play and exploration. It does not rely on cognitive ability, and therefore can help patients who have difficulties with verbal expression. It can help to assess and treat many problems including:
- Emotional difficulties.
- Behavioural difficulties.
- Developmental difficulties.
- Anxiety.
- Self-esteem.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Anger management.
- Grief.
- Attention deficit disorders.
Unless the patient has already been assessed by a suitable therapist, and you are able to share with us a set of current targets or an assessment report written within the last 6 months, an initial assessment is the first step. The format taken will vary from therapist to therapist. When you have been put in touch, please ask your therapist for information if required.
Number of sessions
The number of therapy sessions required (and the frequency and length of each session) would be entirely dependent on the patient’s needs and age. Your therapist will be able to give you an approximate indication after the assessment stage has completed.
Fees in your area can be seen via this link:
Please note that we do not offer all disciplines in all locations, and in some areas we offer outreach visits only.
