Mudlarks Community Garden, my role is to support people with learning disabilities and mental health issues to carry out tasks on their allotment and garden.
Freelance Life Skills Tutor/PA to young persons with SEN, my role is to optimise the independence of young people with learning disabilities, develop their academic and social skills, promote their mental and physical health. I adapt my teaching to suit individual requirements, draw on specialist strategies to maximise students' access to learning and society and create personally motivating targets for learners. I communicate in a range of ways, including augmentative and assistive technologies. I have a detailed understanding of individual needs and abilities and I use personalised scaffolding techniques to enable achievement. I use my community knowledge to maximise opportunities for the individual to meet their objectives, goals and aspirations where these are realistic within our joint means to achieve them. I am trained to use Widgit SymWriter and have independent access to SymWriter on personal laptop.
