  • Beckie qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2009.
  • She worked for the NHS for over 13 years across a range of different settings in the community, in both mainstream and specialist settings. She left the NHS to work for The Owl Centre full-time in March 2022.
  • She has a wealth of experience working with children and young adults with a range of different speech, language and communication and feeding difficulties.
  • She is skilled at working with individuals who have additional needs, such as autism, learning difficulties and complex medical and physical needs.
  • She specialises in Dysphagia and is able to support children and young adults with eating, drinking and swallowing needs. Her special interest is sensory feeding difficulties and ARFID.
  • Beckie has spent a long time working closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team and believes that joint working is essential for achieving positive outcomes.
  • Beckie has further training and specialist interest in:
  • ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions)
  • AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) systems, which are used to enhance an individual’s existing communication system, i.e. Low-tech systems such as;
  • Signalong (a key-word sign-supported system)
  • PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and
  • communication charts or books, including PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) and high-tech communication systems, like Proloquo2Go and TDSnap.
