Katie specialises in working with children who display challenging behaviours due to early life trauma and adverse experiences. She uses a wide range of play and creative arts techniques to help alleviate psychological and emotional conditions in children that cause behavioural problems and prevent children from realising their potential.
Play therapy is particularly effective with children who cannot, or do not want to, talk about their problems. Katie designs effective interventions to help children with complex behavioural challenges, and actively supports parents, teachers and service providers in the implementation of evidence-based practices for improving emotional and behavioural challenges.
Katie has experience of working with children from many different backgrounds, including families who have been affected by domestic abuse, bereaved children, adopted and fostered children, children diagnosed with ASD, and children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. She has worked with children who have experienced instability, neglect and physical and sexual abuse, supporting them to make positive changes, build self-esteem and develop coping strategies.
