Type of therapist: Speech and Language Therapy
Olga qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from Birmingham City University in 2008. Since then, she has gained considerable experience working within the NHS before making the decision to move into independent practice.
Olga has a broad range of experience across a range of settings including clinics, pre-schools, mainstream and special schools, and is happy to work in the most appropriate and comfortable setting for the child. She has a wealth of experience in working with children aged 2-16 years who have speech difficulties (delay or disorder), language difficulties (delay or disorder), and the full range of communication difficulties. She also has a special interest in working with children who have learning difficulties and/or social communication difficulties including those with a diagnosis of ASD. Olga has spent a long time working closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team with other professionals as well as families; she believes successful collaboration and a holistic child-centred approach are key to achieving positive outcomes.
Olga has formal training and practical experience in using vPCI (Video parent child interaction), PECS (The Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton (a signing system used to support understanding and expressive language ability), SULP (Wendy Rinaldi’s ‘Social Use of Language Programme’) and The Hanen ‘More Than Words Program’. Olga’s wide range of interests and skills allow her to be particularly flexible and eclectic as a therapist; from assessment through to therapy techniques.
Having a young family of her own, Olga knows that children learn best when they are having fun, and her therapy sessions are designed to be not only effective, but great fun too.
Geographical locations where Olga can provide home, school and nursery visits include:
