Faye was lovely today with my very anxious son, he came out of his assessment and was happy enough. Faye was welcoming and polite. I would highly recommend and I’m sure I will be using the owl centre again in the future. From the first initial email all my questions were answered and the service acts very quickly. Really happy mum here. Thank you

- Sarah Turner

Zoe Swayne was absolutely fantastic. She was quick in dealing with queries before the assessment. During the assessment, she was brilliant with our 5-year-old (who has ASD). Her report was comprehensive, practical and robust-exactly what we needed. She was also prompt and helpful in answering some further queries that we raised after reading her report. I would not hesitate to recommend her to others. Thank you Zoe!

- Alison Giannangeli , Kent

Zoe worked really well with our 9 year old son. Quickly identifying areas to work on with regards to his stammer and focussing on his confidence. Part of this process was proving to him that techniques could improve the stammer and give him control and therefore more confidence. Skills that he can use forever more! Due to Lockdown these sessions were weekly on Skype and gave us all a focus and the ability to bring something positive out of a strange time. We would certainly recommend Zoe at Owl Therapy.

- Sophie Pearson , Faversham

Nicola delivered a session on Zones of Emotional Regulation to our group of parents/carers of daughters with an autistic spectrum condition and other neurodiverse conditions and teaching staff. She was engaging and informative and clarified how this programme can support young people. It was a brilliant session and we would definitely ask her to support again.

- APPEER

Katherine has been both efficient & fantastic with Jonah. Really love that she has tailored the meeting to meet Jonah’s needs. We are forever grateful thank you Katherine

- Danielle Heard

Zoe Swayne has been working with my daughter since mid 2019. My daughter is autistic and has quite severe speech and language difficulties. She hides her autism very well and struggles to be herself with most people; it can take her a very long time to open up with people if at all. After only a couple of sessions with Zoe my daughter was telling me all about the sessions and what she’d learnt and needed to work on, she was clearly enjoying them and excited about them, she would tell me “Zoe is coming into school this week” and be really excited to go over more and to see her. Even throughout the lockdown Zoe has been amazing, not only providing resources but explaining them to me to enable me to support my daughter with them. She’s done several online sessions too, which my daughter has loved. She has made a lot of progress since working with Zoe, which not only speaks for her skills as a speech and language therapist but also her ability to interact with my daughter and make her feel comfortable enough to be herself. Amber has felt confident enough with Zoe to not worry about getting things wrong, and has been able express if she’s not sure or struggling without feeling silly and feels confident in what is required from her. This has always been a struggle but never been an issue since she’s been working with Zoe. Thank you so much for all you hard work, help and support.

We are committed

To providing the best possible help and support, and the best advice and reassurance. We therefore welcome testimonial reviews from clients about our service. On this page is a selection of reviews, and we welcome more.

It's been an absolute pleasure working with you, Elien. Within a very short period of time you've built a great relationship with our son (which sometimes he doesn't). We started with two sessions per week and now we have five per week which says a lot about your impact and his enjoyment. You have a lovely manner; you're patient, you use a variety of styles and music, and you are always very organised, and punctual. You set targets for our son's progression, and monitor progress along the way. You also take our feedback on board, in terms of what might work for our son, and are very easy to work with. Thank you so much.

- S.

Both Zoe and Faye have been very helpful to us regarding our son.

- Allie Woodward

In the current covid19 climate, they have been very accommodating to our needs as a shielding family. They responded to queries extremely quickly, even on weekends. We had an online assessment done over 2 sessions via Google teams and they were excellent. The process of getting in was smooth, the OT Susanne E was amazing. She did a great job getting my 4yr old to interact with her and do the tasks, observing her though the online platform. She has a way with children. My daughter responded very well under the unusual circumstances. Susanne OT answered all our questions, both in the asessment and via email promptly. Nothing is to much trouble. Because we cannot do face to face sessions until at least mid July, it was agreed we will have 1 online therapy session to start us off with ideas. We will then have face to face ones when we are able. We are waiting for the report next week however, I have no doubt it will be on time and thorough. My experience from the owl centre right from the beginning with providing headed quotes for us, responding to emails swiftly, through to the assessment experience has been very impressive. They are swift, nothing's to much trouble and I highly recommend them. I am a SEN special needs teacher by profession. I wish I had found them for my daughter sooner.

- Sarah Bonner , Oxfordshire

The Owl centre is amazing and has helped my little boy so much. Thank you

- Mia Luxton , Gloucestershire

Nicola conducted a speech assessment for my 3 year old son, which had to be held online due to the pandemic lockdown. Despite this challenge, she managed to hold our son's attention brilliantly, and swiftly moved through various exercises in a warm and playful style. Her advice was excellent - succinct, reassuring and practical - and the follow up was rapid and even moved beyond speech advice into nutrition and eating advice. I felt in very safe and expert hands all the way, and would highly recommend the Owl Centre.

- Alice B , London

Working in education I know how long referrals through CAMHS can take and I didn’t feel this was something that could wait up to two years. So to have a response immediately and an appointment within weeks was amazing. I am happy with the care my daughter received and the treatment is going well.

- Anna Cole-Morgan , Oxfordshire

Great service over the last few years very positive experience highly recommend made such a difference to our child

- Selene Edwards , Gloucestershire

Katherine Mills has been attending our nursery setting for just over a year, which we pay for out of our SENAR budget. The children she sees have gained in confidence and language skills and she has provided valuable resources for parents and nursery practitioners to use.

- Northfield Quaker Pre-School

We think Laura our therapist is outstanding. She is extremely creative and puts in considerable effort to find new ways to continually engage our son.

- Caroline Lloyd

The Owl Centre is incredible. They have gone above and beyond for my little boy since he was 2 and he is now 5. He would not be where he is now without the therapy received on a regular basis by Nicola Lathey. She is incredible.

- Lynette Webster

brilliant service, come highly recommended from us. Our speech therapist for our daughter is perfect.

- Phill Stone

Just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to Zoe Swayne who came and assessed our son and then gave him some therapy sessions this year. He instantly warmed to her and responded wonderfully. She was so patient with him and we can't thank her enough as not only has she given him the confidence to try and say new words she has given us the tools and knowledge to carry on encouraging him. His speech has improved vastly and if there is a tricky word he will automatically 'clap' the sounds to try and help you understand what he's saying and he's so happy he can now communicate how he feels. Can't recommend Zoe highly enough.

- Jo Thornington , Kent

The Centre provided a speech and Language assessment and an ASD assessment, both were handled with such care to both my daughter and myself, very professional but personable. They answer all my questions and concerns not once making me feel like it was any trouble. They made my daughter feel relaxed, took their time, and made sure they got all information required. An excellent service all round, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

- Petre Hector , Slough

My 6 year old son has experienced language difficulties since the age of 2. We brought Tanzilla on board for 6 months to work with us. The progress he has made has been amazing, she built a relationship with him that no other therapist had done. He looked forward to seeing her every week, having that continual support and building that trust really made a difference. Everything was tailored to him, adjusting and putting new things in place as he moved forward. We could not thank her enough for the help she has given him, he has a whole new level of confidence.

- Melissa Ryder , Iver, Buckinghamshire

I wanted to let you know that we have been extremely impressed with Alexa's professionalism, her dedication, level of detail and the support that she has provided. We would have paid more.

I just wanted to share this with you and a thanks all round for getting this sorted for us.

Lesley-Ann was brilliant with my son. She confidently engaged with him during their home and nursery sessions. Her approach was very fun, she gave us and his nursery great plans and strategies. Would highly recommend Leslie-Ann.

- Jagjeet , South Bucks

We were referred to Leslie-Ann last year when we realised that our two year old son Archie had a speech and language delay and he was exhibiting red flags for autism. We wanted to find the best support available and The Owl Centre was highly recommended to us by an autism specialist. Leslie-Ann has been fundamental in our understanding of how to communicate with Archie. We felt completely at ease with Leslie-Ann when she visited us in our home. She captivated Archie’s attention during therapy sessions and she shared many strategies and activities to help us to engage with Archie.
It was lovely to see how well Archie has bonded with Leslie-Ann. We have been rewarded with a happy little boy who is much less frustrated. We now have lots of chatter and laughter in our home. Leslie-Ann is currently visiting Archie in nursery and providing recommendations and support to his teaching staff. We would highly recommend Leslie-Ann to fellow parents in the Berkshire (and surrounding) area.

- Gemma , Surrey

My son’s Speech and Language Therapist, Abi, is a fantastic professional, gentle, patient and has created such a nice bond with him. Always giving brilliant advice for us parents too. You must see Abi working and interacting with children to actually know how good she is.
Thank you Abi !

- Paula N , Luton

The Owl Centre has been providing high quality, professional staff to support our work at school for 2 years now. Their staff are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable and, above all, we have seen positive results from their work.

- Carl Thurston , Gloucestershire

We have used The Owl Centre S&L services for a number of years and have been delighted with the support we receive for our pupils. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and have given the school some great advice for various children with a variety of needs. A worthwhile use of Pupil Premium money for our school, we are very lucky to be able to access this service at a time when public outside agencies are so stretched.

- Sarah Reynolds , Eaton Bray Academy

My 4 year old son has a lisp and Abi came to his school, she did a great job of assessing him and gave us lots of tips. He loved it, it was more play than “therapy” which made it more fun and easier to follow up. Thanks Abi

- Christina , Leighton Buzzard

Rebecca has been working with our son Ethan for the past year and he has made amazing progress in that time. She has such a wonderful kindhearted approach and is endlessly patient. She makes all the activities fun and Ethan always looks forward to his sessions. He adores her, we are so grateful for all your support and would highly recommend her to any child requiring speech therapy.

- Camilla Walley , Gloucestershire

Hi Faye, I've received the report and have taken time to read it all carefully. Thank you so much! I'm so relieved and glad that we decided to have [our son] assessed via The Owl Centre and can now move forwards helping him in the future

- Anon , Kent

Faye, Chris and I just want to say you have been a godsend. So very, very helpful. Somebody giving you some help, when you feel desperate, really makes a difference.

- C.B. , Kent

Fantastic! Very well presented and interesting. Made learning Makaton fun and not intimidating. A really good course. Can't believe how much I learned!

- Anon , Oxfordshire

Michelle is confident and very friendly. She has expert knowledge and is very approachable. I would highly recommend her. I have learned a great deal.

- Victoria , Oxfordshire

[About Michelle's Makaton course] Fantastic course and great tutor. I found it very clear to understand, and it was taught in a very relaxed manner which made it enjoyable.

- L.W. , Oxfordshire

Victoria was *amazing*. Honestly, I can’t speak highly enough of her professionalism and thoughtfulness.

- S.D. , Oxford (visiting from Australia)

I wanted to pass on my gratitude and appreciation to your colleague, Helen. She came to our home to meet my son Oscar and she went above and beyond my expectations. She was caring, nurturing, so passionate and had empathy on a completely different level to anyone I’ve ever met. She was relatable as a mother herself and she made us feel as ease. Can you pass on my appreciation to her, and thank her for making me feel like I’m an ok mum. It’s rare to have such kindness and calmness.

- G.P , Kent

Olga is amazing! So glad to have found her!

- E.K , Gloucestershire

Lovely interactive course. Michelle was friendly and didn't put anyone under pressure. We learned many signs that we'll put into practice right away. Lots of suggestions for books, websites and apps. We've learned masses and enjoyed ourselves.

- Makaton training course attendee , Oxfordshire

Great training, really informative and fun too. Michelle was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Good pace. Venue convenient and appropriate.

- Makaton training course attendee , Oxfordshire

Hi Lydia, I know you are busy and I don't want to take your time but I wanted to share with you that, as I was calling around for a new speech therapist, everyone I talked to…had nothing but the nicest things to say about you. You are truly well thought of and highly talked about amongst that community. I knew it was/is going to be next to impossible to find someone as amazing as you but after chatting with a few ladies I now realize it's impossible :)!!

- L.B. , Hertfordshire

Hi Philippa, we so enjoyed meeting you yesterday and [our son] wanted to know when he was going to play with you again! It was such a help to see you at work and we really admire your positive and professional approach. We will both work with the ideas you have given us and will get in touch again if there are further problems. We can’t thank you enough.

- M.A. , Oxfordshire

Just to say, Victoria is an excellent music therapist. My son absolutely adores her, and her music sessions.

- K.M. , Cambridgeshire

We would like to thank Mary for everything she has done for Christopher. It is such a pleasure to hear him speaking the way he now is.

- Christopher's parents , Oxfordshire

My son saw Mary at the Owl Centre for regular speech therapy sessions in our home. Mary always provided a fun, structured session for our son. She was a pleasure to work with and always came prepared and really helped our son make some improvements with certain speech sounds he found difficult. We highly recommend her!

- J.S. , Oxfordshire

Dear Polly, I just wanted to let you know that Barney's speech is now very good. He sometimes has a moment but on the whole it is great. I wanted to say thank you for helping us. It was down to you that he has made the progress he has.

- M.G. , Oxfordshire

We turned to the Owl Centre because the NHS currently has long waiting lists for its support services, and it’s brilliant that the Centre provides these services under one umbrella. My enquiry was dealt with fast and efficiently - I was really impressed. Our daughter was seen by both Tanya [SLT] and Stephanie [OT] who were very knowledgeable and quickly built up an excellent relationship with her. I felt as if they really cared and wanted to help both her and us. We are so glad (and lucky) that our NHS paediatrician suggested we contact you. We would certainly recommend the Owl Centre.

- C.T. , Oxfordshire

As parents, we were worried about [our son’s] stammer. Much of that worry stemmed from a lack of understanding about the condition. We were impressed by how well Mary interacted with [our son] and how her appraisal looked like play. The session helped us to understand how he was developing and how we could help him with his speech. We are now less anxious and feel that he is improving.

- P.B. , Oxfordshire

Thank you so much [to Stephanie] for such a detailed and insightful report (and for getting it to us so quickly). I really feel that you have articulated what I have been feeling for such a long time but I didn't have the expertise to identify myself. Although [our daughter] has a lot going on, in a way it's a relief to have those feelings validated. Hopefully now we can focus on how to support [her] and enable her to work towards and achieve her own independence.

- C.T. , Oxfordshire

I would like to say how pleased I was with our assessment [with Philippa]... My little three year old girl was completely put at ease and responded very well. I felt we got much more than we expected from the experience.

- D.F. , Oxfordshire

As a parent I have always found Lydia to be really approachable and easy to communicate with.

- A mum , Cambridge

I can not recommend the Owl Centre enough. They were recommended to me by a friend at a time when my family was struggling to cope with my ASD daughter. I was getting no help or support from the NHS and didn't know where to turn. I had a lovely phone call with Lydia who was calm, welcoming and very knowledgeable but above all very pro active arranging with my daughter's school to visit her and started working with Ruby straight away. Lydia has been working with my daughter on a weekly basis and Ruby loves their sessions, looking forward to them every week. Her confidence has soared and she's making great progress with her social skills. Lydia doesn't just teach, she looks at the whole person and treats everyone as an individual, building a close bond very quickly. Lydia recommended Laura to us who visits us fortnightly and has really helped build on Ruby's social skills, organisational skills, recall and boosting her confidence and self esteem. Her sessions are always fun and Ruby loves her visits. We have seen a huge change in Ruby since using the Owl Centre. Our home is a much happier one and Ruby seems so much calmer and comfortable within herself. I am so happy we decided to use the Owl centre as year 6 and even secondary doesn't seem such a daunting task now.

We at St. Michael's have found Sarah's expert advice to be invaluable. She is extremely professional in her approach and the children find her a comforting presence. We have used her feedback to close the gap in attainment in a number of our most vulnerable children and will definitely be calling on her support in the future.

- Emma Billingham (SENCo and member of SLT @ St. Michael's CE Primary) , St. Michael's CE Primary

Of all the professionals who called at our door when Harry was little, it was Nicola who made the most difference to our son's life.

- N.P. , Abingdon

For [our son, Polly's therapy] has been very helpful - relaxing but fun, and I think his confidence has grown because of it. For me it has been of great benefit in dealing with him. The service in general has been flexible, highly reliable and punctual. I also am secure in the knowledge that I can contact you at any time and know I will get a warm, quick response.

- A.W. , Boars Hill

"Molly was so excited every time we drove past Nicola's clinic that she shouted, 'Mum, let's go and see my lady!'"

- A.B. , Headington

We've been extremely happy with the therapy we've received, and our son has really responded to it…[G]iven that the NHS still has us on a waiting list after 9 months, we don't have any regrets about starting private therapy. Moreover, with the NHS, we'd probably only receive therapy once every 2 months or so, and I think the regular meetings at the Owl Centre make a big difference. In addition to excellent therapy, the service and running of the Centre are terrific-everyone is always responsive, flexible, and keeps things simple. We're very satisfied clients!

- S.B. , Oxford city

Our child has special needs and his progress is slow. But Nicola keeps his sessions lively and fun and leaves Arun rigid with excitement. She always listens to us and explains the next steps for our son in a way in which we can understand and achieve them.

- J.M. , Islip

"Polly is magic."

- JL(aged 6 years) , Oxfordshire

Polly's expertise has made the whole process of sorting out our son's stammer so much easier. Polly has such a wonderful rapport with children, making them feel instantly at ease. Polly has been with us every step of the way, we could not have done it without her. I would definitely recommend the Lidcombe programme and was delighted our son made such rapid progress. Worth every penny.

- JL's mother , Oxfordshire

I initially contacted 12 therapists...and following initial assessment meetings we narrowed the process down to three players. The Owl Centre seemed best placed to help us...Nicola was great... she seemed to get the balance right between being tough on saying the words correctly and being sensitive enough to keep the session positive...For [our son], Nicola was his number 1 choice too which I guess is a great start!

- T.M. , Witney

We are very happy with [our son's] speech therapy. Mary is doing a wonderful job. [Our son] can be reluctant and Mary has shown patience and can normally coax [him] round. She makes the sessions fun with lots of games for [him] to interact with, and consequently his speech is becoming much clearer.

- S.K. , Garsington

We are delighted with our relationship with Nicola/The Owl Centre...[T]he main difference between NHS and private therapy is accessibility, frequency, reliability, communication and understanding... [W]e believe that [private therapy] has been worth every penny. [Our son] has undoubtedly benefited directly from Nicola's therapy/intervention but also indirectly because it has improved our understanding as parents and the strategies we employ at home. Likewise, school has also been involved so we are all working together...I would without hesitation recommend Nicola/The Owl Centre...

- J.A. , Beckley
